Leadership

Bishop Oliver L. Pittman, Sr

Senior Pastor/Founder

Bishop Oliver L. Pittman Sr. is the Senior Pastor and founder of Sure Promise Christian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, a ministry inspired by the Holy Ghost and established in 2001. Born in Greenville, North Carolina, he graduated from Rocky Mount City Schools and later earned a BS in Criminal Justice from Saint Augustine’s University in 1992. That same year, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Infantry Division. After his military service, he worked in the  Wake County’s criminal justice system.

Before embracing his pastoral calling, he served under his spiritual leader in the local church for 13 years. During this period, he pursued further education, earning multiple degrees: a Master’s in Special Education, a second Master’s in School Administration, an MDiv in Preaching and Pastoral Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctoral degree from North Carolina College of Theology. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Christian Education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Pittman retired after a 20-year career in teaching and school administration within the Wake County Public School System.

He and Co-Pastor Anita met in college and have been married for over 30 years. They have three anointed children: Oliver Jr., Olivia, and Octavia. Dr. Pittman finds preaching and teaching God’s Word to be the most fulfilling task he has ever undertaken. He is a remarkable Spiritual Leader, Preacher, Teacher, Father, Husband, Mentor, and Friend.
Over the years, he has mentored several pastors before being elevated to the office of Bishop in the Lord’s church in 2018. He fervently works to position the church towards evangelism, which recently led to the establishment of Sure Promise Christian Academy (K-8 private school) and Precious Promises Academy (a five-star daycare).

Dr. Pittman's desire to win souls and help individuals embrace their divine calling is evident in his commitment to outreach through radio and TV broadcasts, missions abroad, revivals, prison and outreach ministries, food programs, couples and campus ministries, and conferences. His focus on spiritual growth and winning souls for the Kingdom culminated in the formation of Reformation Through Truth International Fellowship (RTTF), which supports churches and parachurch organizations in fulfilling the Great Commission. His motto is, “Neither success nor failure depends on what people say, but rather what God says, and your agreement with God about your situation.”
