Dr. Oliver L. Pittman, Sr. 'Bishop'
Bishop Oliver L. Pittman Sr. is the Senior Pastor and founder of Sure Promise Christian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. A ministry that was birthed in his spirit by the Holy Ghost in 2001.
He is a native of Greeneville, North Carolina. Graduating from the Rocky Mount City Schools and went on to do undergraduate studies at Saint Augustine’s University, graduating with a BS in Criminal Justice in 1992. Also in 1992, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Infantry Division. After serving in the military, he worked in the criminal justice system in Wake County.
He served within the local church under his spiritual leader for 13 years before God launched him into his pastoral call. During this time, he continued his studies in the field of education. He obtained multiple degrees, including a Master’s degree in Special Education, a second Master’s degree in School Administration, an MDiv Master of Divinity in Preaching and Pastoral Ministry, at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Doctoral degree from North Carolina College of Theology, and is currently pursuing an Doctorate in Christian Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Pittman retired after 20 years of teaching and School Administration (Assistant Principal) within the Wake County Public School System.
He and Co-pastor Anita met in college and have been married for over 30 years. They have three anointed children: Oliver Jr., Olivia, and Octavia. Dr. Pittman finds preaching and teaching God’s Word the most fulfilling task he has ever been called to do. He is an exceptional Spiritual Leader, Preacher, Teacher, Father, Husband, Mentor, and Friend.
He has mentored several Pastors over the years before accepting this elevation in ministry to the office of Bishop in the Lord’s church in 2018. He works to position the church to focus on evangelism through the recent opening and establishment of a Christian School (Sure Promise Christian Academy) and Christian Day Care.
Dr. Pittman’s desire to win souls and see individuals step into the calling of God for their lives is exemplified in how he allows God to work through him in Outreach Radio and TV broadcasts, missions abroad, revivals, prison & outreach ministry, food programs, couples and campus ministries, and Conferences.
His focus is on spiritual growth in the believer, and winning souls for the Kingdom. It is through this passion Reformation Through Truth International Fellowship (RTTF) was birthed, to support churches and Para church organizations in their efforts to fulfill the great commission. His motto is, “Neither success nor failure depends on what people say, but rather what God says, and your agreement with God about your situation.”
